Place2Be – Supporting Children’s Emotional Wellbeing

At Kitchener Primary School, we are committed to supporting the emotional wellbeing of every child. As part of this commitment, we work in partnership with Place2Be, a leading children’s mental health charity that provides emotional and wellbeing support in schools.

Place2Be offers a safe, nurturing space where children can talk, express themselves and explore their feelings in a supportive and age-appropriate way. This support helps children build confidence, resilience and emotional understanding, which in turn supports their learning and wellbeing.

How Place2Be Supports Children

Children may experience worries or emotions that are difficult to express, such as feeling sad, anxious, confused or overwhelmed. These feelings can sometimes affect friendships, behaviour or learning in school.

Place2Be provides a safe space where children can talk, play or express themselves creatively with a trained professional. Support may be offered through:

  • One-to-one sessions with a trained practitioner
  • Small group support
  • Short, informal drop-in sessions known as “Place2Talk”

The aim is to help children understand their feelings, build confidence and develop healthy ways to manage emotions.

Working in Partnership with Families

We understand that families may have questions or concerns about emotional wellbeing support. Place2Be always works in partnership with parents and carers, and support is never provided without appropriate discussion and agreement.

Parents and carers are kept informed and involved, and support is always delivered in a sensitive and respectful way that reflects the values of our school community.

Place2Be also offers guidance and resources for parents and carers who may want support in helping their child at home.

Our Commitment

At Kitchener Primary School, we believe that emotional wellbeing is just as important as academic achievement. Supporting children’s mental and emotional health helps them feel safe, confident and ready to learn.

If you would like to know more about Place2Be or discuss any concerns, please contact the school. We are always happy to talk and work together to support your child.
