Care
At Kitchener Primary, we care deeply about one another, our wellbeing and our learning environment. We strive to show compassion, kindness and respect in everything we do. Children are supported to understand their emotions, build positive relationships and feel safe, valued and ready to learn.
Care at Kitchener is embedded throughout daily school life. Through structured wellbeing support, restorative approaches and opportunities for reflection, we help children develop emotional awareness, resilience and empathy.
Our approach to care includes:
Circle Time
-
Check-in Monday
-
Wellness Wednesday
-
Feel Good Friday
These sessions support children to understand, manage and express their emotions in a safe and supportive environment.
Near Peer Support
Older pupils act as Near Peer mentors, helping younger children with friendships, confidence and problem-solving. This strengthens relationships across year groups and builds a strong sense of belonging.
Restorative Practice
We use restorative language and approaches to repair relationships, resolve conflict and strengthen our school community. Children learn accountability, empathy and how to move forward positively.
Thrive and ELSA Support
Targeted emotional and social support helps children develop healthy minds, emotional regulation and confidence. Our classroom-centred approaches ensure children receive support when they need it.
Healthy Lifestyles
We promote wellbeing through outdoor learning, high-quality physical education, healthy eating and personal safety. As a Healthy School, we support children to make positive choices for their physical and emotional wellbeing.
At Kitchener Primary, care underpins everything we do. When children feel safe, supported and valued, they are able to thrive both academically and personally.
