Learning
At Kitchener Primary, we love learning because it helps us grow and prepares us for the future. We encourage every child to be the best they can be by developing independence, resilience and motivation.
Our learning environments are inclusive, supportive and purposeful, designed to inspire curiosity, creativity and critical thinking. Children are empowered to take ownership of their learning, explore new ideas and develop confidence across all areas of school life.
Our curriculum is concept-based and designed to help children know, do, experience and understand. Learning is relevant, inclusive and reflective of the community we serve. Teachers adapt learning to meet pupils’ needs, interests and aspirations, ensuring engagement and challenge for all learners.
Assessment and feedback are embedded throughout the school. Timely verbal and written feedback supports children to reflect on their progress, address misconceptions and make sustained improvements.
We use structured questioning and higher-order thinking strategies to deepen understanding and develop strong communication skills. Becoming confident communicators is central to our approach, particularly for children learning English as an additional language.
We work in partnership with parents and carers, recognising them as children’s first teachers. Workshops, shared learning opportunities and open communication help create strong links between home and school.
Through inclusive teaching, personalised support and high expectations, we ensure that every child has the opportunity to succeed academically, socially and emotionally.
At Kitchener Primary, learning is about more than outcomes; it is about nurturing confident, curious and resilient lifelong learners.
